Tid Bits

  • Happy 22nd Birthday to The Sister!!!
  • My Bub LOVES country music.  He gets this from his Mommy and it makes me very happy BUT I'm a little worried that my 3 year old walks around singing "I'm a little Drunk on You" - "Ice cold beer sittin in the console" - and random things about "moonshine."
  • If you ask Asher what his Brudder's name is he'll either say Brantley or Brick.  Obviously we love our Brantley and Hart of Dixie a little too much.

Asher riding Papa's 1940's scooter!

He was a pro!  I can't believe how good he rode this big old thing

Swimming with TeeTee

Big boy swapped his seat so The Brudder can sit behind Mommy's seat.  Such a stud in his shades.

Daddy finally carried his saddle stool into his room.  It looks so cute in the corner!

Fat Face

Saturday night when I went home to get cleaned up before dinner I put on my cute new maxi dress and actually did my hair and make-up.  I wanted to feel "cute" one last time.  I had Mom snap a couple of pictures of us because I don't think we have a single picture of the 3 of us before we become 4!  You have no idea how bad I felt when I pulled them up on the computer.  I had no idea my face was that fat.  Or my arms.  I'm just so ready now for this to be over at this point - I'm just hoping the fat face goes away right away!

One year ago.  Skinny with cute hair.  Remind me again why I'm growing it out?!?!
I told my cousin Kris that I could pry scare her into never having kids.  I think this would actually suffice.

The "Plan"

I'm hesitant of even typing this out because after Asher's Birth I know that some things don't go according to plan.  I thought I was prepared for Asher's birth but when he came a couple of weeks early via emergency c-section I wasn't ready.  The thought of a c-section had never even crossed my mind.  Shortly after I found out I was pregnant with this lil guy I started looking into VBAC's and asked Dr Austman if it was an option.  I was SO excited when she told me she thought I had a great chance at having a VBAC (because my c-section was because of Asher and not me).  Beyond that I didn't really have any plans.  A couple of months ago I started thinking a little more seriously about trying to do this without medication.  Yes, I just said that.  But after reading Leah's unplanned med-free birth story with Isaac and her planned med-free birth story with Ezra I was even more convinced that it was something I wanted to look into.  Then a couple of weeks ago I read how Katie was grateful that her epi wore off and she was able to feel the pain of childbirth and I was sold.

Although I am so grateful that Asher was healthy when he arrived his birth wasn't what I thought it would be.  At first I think I was just so overwhelmed by the whole experience, then I was just trying to heal and take care of a newborn that I didn't really think about HOW he got here.  It really wasn't until I was pregnant this second time that I reflected on his birth and how I feel about it.  I don't want to say that I felt "cheated" because in the end all I wanted was a healthy baby and that is what I got.  I think it more has to do with the fact that this is my last baby (according to my husband) so I want to do it MY way.

After Asher was born they held him up for me to see him for a few seconds and that was it.  I watched his birth video a couple of months ago and there was Dustin in the nursery with him while I was being put back together.  There were my Mother-In-Laws fussing over my newborn that I hadn't really even gotten to see yet.  There was me being wheeled into the recovery room completely dazed and out of it.  I did not get a chance to hold my baby and have some "alone time" because of all of the family there wanting to see him.  Not that I can really blame them - we do make pretty cute babies.  But this time - I want it to be different.

I guess its the part of me that feels the need for control.  I want to actually experience the whole birth process.  I want to be the first person to bond with my baby.  So I'm hoping that this time things go a little more according to plan.  BUT that doesn't mean that I'm naive enough to think that another c-section isn't a possibility or that I won't be screaming for an epidural before we even get to the hospital.

Dustin is still trying to get me to opt for a c-section because it is just "easier."  I told him if he has the next child he can choose how he wants to give birth.  My Mom (who will be with me) has told me repeatedly that I'm a wuss and I'll never make it.  Gee, thanks Mom.  I really do think my saving grace will be Lynn.  Not only is she one of the most calming and supportive people I've ever met - but I know for a fact that she'll be the one there to encourage me through this.  No offense to Dustin and Mom whom I both love to death - but I think they will be totally stressing me out - or maybe they'll totally surprise me.  I guess we'll see.  Although I do want my Mom there for labor/birth I have told her as soon as he is born she'll need to get out.  I want that time alone as a family.  And I've expressed to family that we'll let them know when we're ready for visitors.

So I guess for now that's the "plan."  But don't be surprised if his birth story is very different from what I have envisioned in my head :)

38 Week Appointment

Weight Gain This Appointment: 4 lbs!  In a week!
Total so Far: 38 pounds
Belly Measurement: She didn't take it since I was "full term"
Brudder's Heart Rate: 130's
Progress:  She didn't check me because I haven't been having contractions :(

What's Next:  What a disappointing appointment.  At this point when she says "I'll see you in a week" it makes me wanna cry.  Yes, I know that I still have 2 weeks left but I am SO over it.  So we'll go back in a week and see what happens.  She did say that she thinks he *might* be head down but if he is she thinks he is sunnyside up.  I asked her about the ultrasound to check my scar and she said that it was optional and she didn't think no matter what the outcome was that she would change her mind so she said we weren't going to worry about it and we can always check his position when we get to hospital.

She also said that she had a VBAC fail last week.  She said if you would have seen me the day after that VBAC I would have told you no.  I guess she was at the hospital 24 hours with someone and they ended up with a c-section.  She said once she got some sleep she changed her mind.  Thank God!  Hopefully we don't have the same problems.

38 Weeks

How far along?: 38 Weeks

How big is baby?: About 7 lbs and 19.5 inches

Weight gain/loss?: 34 pounds at last appt - I go back to the Dr today to see what the damage is.

Stretch marks?: Nope

Maternity clothes?:  Thank God its warming up!  Going to be living in maxi dresses.

Sleep?: Not terrible considering the fact that I feel like a beached whale everytime I turn over or get up to pee.

Food cravings?:  Nothing much.  I couldn't help buying strawberries and pineapple at the grocery store this weekend and those are tasting pretty good.  Oh, and hot and spicy bloody mary mix!

Gender?: Another Brudder!

Movement?:  He's killing me.  He seems to still be laying sideways and up high so the top of my tummy is huge and SO tight.  And the hiccups...

Belly button?: You mean my third nipple? Yes, its out.

This is the week that I had Asher so its really hitting home that I'm going to have this baby - and soon!  There are still several things on my to-do list and its kind of starting to freak me out so hopefully we can get everything accomplished before Brudder gets here!  I'm starting to get very excited about meeting my little man.  I think the biggest thing I've been thinking about is whether he'll look just like Asher?!?!  I hope he does cuz I think my Bubby is the cutest lil guy ever but on the other hand I would love for one of my boys to get Mommy's eyes this time :)

Tid Bits

  • The Sister said Brantley was awesome.  BUT she also texted me and told me that she was dripping with sweat and that the lines for the bathroom were outrageous.  This made me feel better - to know that I never would have made it!
  • Asher got a "new" 4 Wheeler this week.  He is BEYOND excited.  I'm just hoping that his Dad and Papa's can get it all fixed up for him because he's been begging to ride it.  He even made Nannie Annie walk over to our house on Wednesday so he could show her.  She said he got up on it, looked back at her over his shoulder and said "How do I look?"
  • I took yesterday off and went flower shopping with my Mom, Grandma Jane and Aunt Kristi.  We went to a place called Sunrise Nursery in Grant Park and it was huge.  Asher and I went for a walk that morning and he was deciding which way to turn whenever we got to a corner.  After we started getting a little far from home I told him we'd have to go back because Mommy couldn't get too far from home without having to go potty.  He looked back at me and said "Yeah, I think my Brudder will fall out."
  • When I was at Mom & Dad's this morning to drop Boo off Mom got a text.  She checked it and got this disgusted look on her face.  I asked her what it said and she said that my Brother was texting her a picture of his poop.  He was in the bathroom at home.  All I could think was "Shit, I'm gonna have two boys."  Please tell me its just my brother that is that immature and gross.
A successful day of flower shopping!

Dustin & Dad workin on the 4-Wheeler

Dustin with Kate last Saturday

Everyone thought they should rub Brantley in and sent me pictures.  This one was from my cousin Matt.

And this one from Josh

Asher got  to ride the car at WalMart on Wednesday

Asher is soooo excited about his new 4-wheeler.  I didn't have the heart to tell him that its hideous and I think its older than Mommy.  Hopefully Papa can make it pretty again!

The Gerber's

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of taking some pictures of my friend Carlee and her little family - which included the brand-new Mister Boston!  I was so excited to meet this little guy and get some baby snuggles in.  We had originally planned on doing some maternity pictures but Boston had other plans :)

RJ's Senior Prom

On Saturday RJ had his Senior Prom.  I'm still a little surprised that he went at all.  I had done Kate's hair that morning then Asher and I had a little nap before we went over to Mom & Dad's to see all the kids.  I still can't believe that RJ, Jordyn and Kate are old enough to be going to Prom!  Makes me feel a little ancient :(

And The Sister before she headed to Brantley!
Someone had to be woken up from his nap...

Yes, I feel ancient.  Gotta find my pics of me with Heidi and then me with Kate!

37 Week Appointment

Weight Gain This Appointment: 0!
Total so Far: 34 pounds
Belly Measurement: She didn't take it since I was "full term"
Brudder's Heart Rate: 150's

What's Next:  Another quick and easy appointment.  I tested positive for Group B Strep - I was a little surprised because I don't know anyone who has ever said they had a test come back positive.  She said its no biggie unless I come to the hospital ready to push.  They will just need to give me antibiotics every 4 hours while in labor.  I also had blood in my urine - which I did with Asher at this time too.  When she started feeling around on my belly I could tell she was having trouble finding his head again and judging by the two huge lumps on top I was wondering myself if his head wasn't down again.  She said that she wasn't going to worry about it yet because he still had time to turn.

Expect Net

Don't forget to go to Expect Net and leave your guess about when Brudder will arrive and how big he'll be!  The game will be shut down as of May 11th!
