Jeans

Yeah, yeah, yeah.... someday I'll get around to really posting something.  Adler is now a little over 10 weeks old and I have yet to wear any pants with a button.  That made me all the more excited when I found these little babies at Von Maur
JAG Jeans
I picked up these JAG Jeans at Von Maur last week - there is nothing I love more than a pull-on pant :)  If I didn't look like such a disaster I would post a picture of them - they are super cute, comfy and fit me perfectly!

Summertime

I'm gonna try not to bawl around and tell you how stinkin fast this summer has gone.  I'm down to just shy of 4 weeks of maternity leave left and I'm already getting a little panicky that it will be time to go back to work at the end of this summer.  Just a couple weeks after I go back Asher will be starting Pre-School - how in the heck did this happen?  Here is a little bit of what our summer has looked like.

The Elusive Smile

I caught just a hint of Adler's smile this morning so I thought I would share!  PS - I have no idea why the pictures are sideways and I don't have time to fix them!

8 Weeks

Weight: 13 lbs 11 oz

Percentile: 90%

Height: 22.5 inches

Percentile: 75%
Dr Austman says: We've got a big boy!  I knew he was growing like a weed but was really surprised that he had put on 3 lbs in the last 4 weeks.  He is 3 pounds heavier than Asher was at this age.  Dr Austman said he looked great but she did notice something that my Mom had said something about a couple of weeks ago... he will only turn his head to one side.  Dr A said this is most likely the way he was positioned in the womb.  She gave me a few things to work on with him to try to get him to loosen up.  She said if he keeps doing it the muscles in his neck will tighten and it will take some physical therapy to fix.  Other than that he looks good and we'll go back in 2 months and see Dr Bash in a couple of weeks.

What he's up to: Little man is wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes but he is outgrowing them fast! I pulled out the tub of 6 mo clothes to go through today! If he keeps up at this pace they won't be in the same season even though their birthdays are just 2 weeks apart. I would hate to have to buy a bunch of new clothes when we already have so much. He is still in size 1 diapers but when box is empty we will be moving up.  Adler has been sleeping  through the night for about 2 weeks now and its awesome!  His naps are hit or miss during the day and I pretty much let him set his own schedule at this point.  He is also one spoiled baby!  I've held him for the last 2 months so now as soon as you set him down he is not a happy camper :(
Last Friday Adler turned 8 weeks!  I'll say it again - I can't believe how fast the time has gone.  Here are a few pictures from that day
I'm gonna say this picture pretty much sums him up these days.  He's fat & serious.  We can't get this lil guy to smile for nothin!  We've  gotten a few little peeks here and there but I cannot wait to get a big 'ole smile for Mama!
Morning routine:  Dancing with the boys in my room to Brantley or whoever is on CMT.
I feel the same way sometimes...

Nannie Jane taking the boys for a walk.  I think Asher is getting a lil too big for the stroller.
How stinking cute.  I love matching little boys.
And yes, we are finally swimming!  Mom bought about 10 different floaties and this is the one that finally got him off of the steps!

Sometimes, I need to reassure myself

that I'm getting something accomplished during the days.  Everyday I feel like I blink and then its 5:00 and I have done nothing.  Today was a pretty typical day - except that Asher was with Grandma Sue.  So here is what I've done so far today and it is 1:00 PM.

2:30 AM - Alarm goes off to get up and pump.  Yes, I set my alarm per a suggestion from my cousin Milissa.  Little Brudder is now sleeping through the night (5 nights in a row!)  And when I wake up after 8-9 hours of not nursing I'm DYING.  So last night was the first night of  getting up in the middle of the night to pump.  I strapped on my new Medela Bustier which is a must have if you plan on pumping at work and read a little 50 Shades while I cranked out a good 8 ounces.

5:30 AM - Adler is up.  So I get him changed and start to feed him only to have Asher up within 5 minutes asking for chocolate milk and Cheetos.  After Adler is done eating I put him in the swing and get Asher what he needs before I start to pack Dustin's lunch and fill up his water jug.  Today I packed Asher's bag since he was going to spend the day with Grandma Sue who has been gone on vacation the last few weeks.

6:45 AM - Dustin and Asher leave for the day.  I jump in the shower while Adler is still sleeping.  Then I do a quick run through of the house making the beds and picking up toys.  A couple of loads of laundry too.

8:30 AM - Adler and I are out the door.  Mom is sick today and needed a couple of things and so did I so Adler and I ran over to WalMart.

10:00 - I go back to Mom and Dad's and drop Adler off with TeeTee while I run up to Once N Again to drop off the rest of my maternity clothes.  Then its back to Mom and Dad's for the Sister to dye my hair.  I eat some jalapeno chips for lunch so I hope lil guy has a strong stomach.

12:00 - I get back home.  Adler fell asleep on the way home (a whole block) so I lay him down in his bed.  I paint my toes.  We have a wedding tomorrow so I stand in front of my closet and cry.  Then I grab a maxi dress to cover my lil pooch.  I know that the halter is too long and its now too big around the waist since I wore it at 37 weeks preggo so I drag out the sewing machine and take it in and shorten the straps.

1:00 PM - Walk by the computer.  Shit.  I haven't written a blog post in a while.  So I sit down and write about why I don't have time to blog.

The End.

Happy 4th of July!

We've got a full day planned but just wanted to say Happy 4th and share a couple of pictures from this morning!

 Lil Brudder at 7 weeks
Asher started asking to go to Meme & Papa's at 6:30 this morning....  I had to hold him off until 10 and now we're trying to keep him out of the pool until Ashlyn gets here.  Patience is hard when you're 3 :)

Clarification

Don't let this picture fool you:
Its not all rainbows and unicorns around here.

The adjustment to 2 kids is hard.  Especially when I never learned how to disipline Asher.  After I was at work all day I felt so guilty about being gone that I let him have anything he wanted, do anything he wanted and was basically at his beck and call.  I never really disiplined him either.  I'm paying for that now.

I seem to be the only one he won't listen too (well, except maybe my Mom who is a major push-over too) and it is soooo frustrating now that I've got Adler that I'm trying to take care of at the same time.  He completely ignores what I say and seems to know just how to push my buttons.  The poor kid never learned to have patience because I always jumped to get what he wanted - now it seems like I spend half my day nursing and I can't just jump when he needs something.  I seem to frustrate him just as much as he frustrates me.  When I get a spare moment (ha!) I'm going to re-read 123 Magic which is a great book that I read when Asher was about 18 months.  The concept is great but at the time Asher was still too young to understand.  I think we'll try it again.

Adler is doing great!  He eats like a chomp I mean champ - or maybe I mean both.  The beginning of last week I was hit with another round of mastitis.  More golf ball boob, more fever, more chills and more headaches.  I can't decide which is worse - the c-section recovery or getting this twice in 3 weeks.  I've made it longer without having to supplement with formula this time so I'm very proud of myself.  I just want to keep chugging along.  I did away with the shield and totally quit pumping and things seem to be going MUCH better now.  But he is growing like a weed and we've already gone through pretty much all the NB - 3 Mo clothes!  He is such a big boy!  Adler is still getting up once a night (usually around 4 AM).  Asher started sleeping through the night by 6 weeks so I'm hoping Adler will soon follow in his footsteps.  He is getting way too big for the bassinet and I tried to have him sleep in his crib the first time on Friday night but I just couldn't have him that far away from me.  I have a little bit of seperation anxiety.

Last week we did get the results of his Echo.  Adler has mild pulmonary stenosis and a couple of other things that I can't remember the name of just now.  I have aortic stenosis so its basically the same thing just in a different area of the heart.  Right before I was married Dr Bash told me that my children had a 1 in 1,000 chance of getting what I have... we should have named him Murphy.

So Adler will see Dr Bash (Yay!) on August 2nd to have him review his file and get a check up.  I'm very excited that he will be seeing my cardiologist.  I have been seeing Dr Bash since I was 10 or 12 and he said I can continue seeing him until he retires or I start smoking - whichever comes first :)

So that is basically what is going on right now.  Adler turned 6 weeks on Friday which is absolutley crazy!  Makes me soooo sad that I'm already halfway through my maternity leave - although I am SO greatful to have a full 12 weeks off.

Dustin and I also "celebrated" our 5 year Anniversary on Saturday night.  If you call going to Saybrook with my parents for pizza celebrating.  I called and asked him if he wanted to go out just the 2 of us or go with my parents - he said we'd go with them - I was thinking the same thing!  This is the first time I left Adler and I'll admit I had a small panic attack on the way there.  I left them with Nannie Jane who is probably the only person I'd let watch him.  We were only gone a couple of hours but I'm in no hurry to go anywhere again!  I didn't leave Asher until the weekend before I went back to work - he was 12 weeks old!

I really will try to get better at this but I just can't believe how fast the days go and how I get absolutley nothing accomplished - but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
